Pedestrian dead, another seriously injured after being hit by car in Arden Arcade

Pedestrian fatality

One pedestrian died and another had serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle Friday evening in Arden Arcade, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The two pedestrians were hit around 8:20 p.m. near Hurley Way and Fulton Avenue, CHP North Sacramento spokesperson Officer Justin Fetterly said. One of the pedestrians died and the other was taken to a hospital with major injuries, Fetterly said.

Both pedestrians were adults, Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District spokesperson Capt. Mark Nunez said.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities, said Fetterly, who added that DUI is not suspected as a factor.

The pedestrian who was killed, identified as a 37-year-old man, was expected to be identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office once relatives are notified.
