Bee Lao was a husband and father of five, his four daughters, ranging in age from 14 to 5, and a 2-year-old son. Lao was struck dead by a driver Sunday night at the intersection of Marysville and Del Paso boulevards in North Sacramento.

Lao was fatally struck around 6:30 p.m. Sunday, said Sacramento Police Department. Officers arrived to find him in the roadway. Lao, 46, of Sacramento, was later identified by Sacramento County coroner’s officials.

Now days after the collision that took Lao’s life, a GoFundMe appeal is raising money to lay Lao to rest, and support the family he left behind.

“Bee Lao was a loving person who was always welcoming to everyone,” wrote wife Stella Xiong in the Go Fund Me appeal she posted online. Xiong is currently not working, she said.

“He was also a father who was taken too soon from us,” Xiong said.

The family has so far raised close to $8,000 — nearly 80% of the family’s stated $10,000 goal — by 8:30 a.m. Thursday, the GoFundMe account showed.
