Woodland man ID’d as hit-and-run victim found in I-5 center divide near Woodland

hit and run fatality

Authorities on Wednesday identified the man found dead along Interstate 5 in Yolo County as the victim of an apparent hit-and-run collision.

The Yolo County Sheriff’s Office’s coroner’s division identified the victim Wednesday morning as Daniel Ray Markham, 46, of Woodland.

California Highway Patrol officers from the Woodland office found Markham’s body just before 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in the center divide of northbound Interstate 5 near West Street, northwest of Woodland.

Investigators said evidence at the scene indicated Markham was struck by a vehicle whose driver fled without stopping. The driver had not contacted the Highway Patrol to report the collision, officials said.

The investigation remained ongoing Wednesday as officers searched for the vehicle and driver involved.

Anyone with information was urged to contact the CHP’s Woodland office at 530-702-6250.
