Bus service between Placerville and Sacramento will run at 20-minute intervals during most commuter hours after El Dorado Transit announced it would increase weekday runs to eight in each direction starting Feb. 9.

Previously, the route offered five westbound morning trips at 30-minute intervals and six eastbound afternoon and evening trips, most also spaced 30 minutes apart, the Diamond Springs-based transit agency announced.

In a news release, the transit agency said the new schedule will include a 40-minute headway on the final morning run and the final nighttime run.

Starting just after 5 a.m., commuter service will depart from Placerville or Diamond Springs, with stops in Shingle Springs and El Dorado Hills, before dropping riders near Sacramento Regional Transit’s University-65th Street light rail station and at stops in midtown and downtown Sacramento. Return service will leave Sacramento between 3 p.m. and 5:40 p.m., the transit agency said.

El Dorado Transit is also extending Route 25, the Saturday Express. The route currently ends in Diamond Springs but will extend to Folsom starting Feb. 7.

The Saturday Express will carry riders between RT’s Iron Point light rail station in Folsom and the Safeway in Pollock Pines, just off Highway 50. Service will operate from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with 11 total runs.

The expanded route will add stops at Eskaton Lincoln Manor and Prospector’s Plaza outside Placerville, as well as the Safeway in Diamond Springs.

A Saturday bus line that looped through Diamond Springs, Route 35, will be discontinued.

More information about the changes is available on the agency’s website.
