A woman hospitalized after she was struck by a car while walking across a street two weeks ago in an Elk Grove residential neighborhood has died from her injuries.

The incident involving the pedestrian was reported about 8:15 p.m. April 8 along Shasta Lily Drive in the neighborhood between Sheldon and Calvine roads in Elk Grove.

Police said the pedestrian was walking west across Shasta Lily Drive outside of a marked crosswalk when she was hit by a Honda Civic heading south. The woman hit by the car suffered serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to a hospital, where she succumbed to those injuries six days later.

The car’s driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigators, according to the Police Department. The incident remains under investigation.
