Pedestrian killed in train collision in North Highlands, Sacramento Metro Fire says
A pedestrian died after being struck by a Union Pacific train Monday morning near the Walerga Road overcrossing in North Highlands, authorities said.
The collision was reported about 7:05 a.m. along the railroad tracks near Roseville Road, according to emergency dispatch logs.
Metro Fire Sacramento said firefighters arrived on scene and pronounced the person dead. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim pending notification of next of kin.
Union Pacific officials were notified and responded to the scene, firefighters said.
No additional details about the victim or circumstances leading up to the collision were immediately available.
