One week after Howe Park shooting, have there been any arrests? What to know
The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating a shooting that unfolded last Saturday, April 18, near an Arden Arcade park.
An unauthorized gathering occurred at Howe Park that evening when sheriff’s deputies heard at least 20 gunshots, according to previous Sacramento Bee reporting. The four victims — a 24-year-old man, 25-year-old man, 21-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman — are expected to survive. The Sheriff’s Office believes the gathering was related to Picnic Day, an annual open house at UC Davis, though the exact connection was not clear.
A week later, Sgt. Alex Zakrzewski said there have been no arrests.
“There’s a lot of moving pieces,” he said.
The Sheriff’s Office previously said two women and a man were detained by Solano County deputies because they were in a vehicle of interest located in Fairfield. A firearm was also found in the vehicle.
A week later, Zakrzewski said, the vehicle is still believed to be involved in the shooting. However, he did not provide information about how the vehicle and its occupants were involved. As of Saturday, the vehicle’s occupants were not arrested.
