Law enforcement officials are searching for a 14-year-old girl last seen Friday in West Sacramento.

Ambreyel Evans was last seen around 1:20 p.m. Friday, the California Highway Patrol said Wednesday as it issued an Ebony Alert on behalf of the West Sacramento Police Department. The alert is in place for Sacramento and Yolo counties.

The CHP alert did not include the teen’s last known location but said she is believed to be on foot.

Evans is described as approximately 5-foot-6 and 165 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a white tank top, red sweatpants and red-and-white Nike shoes, according to the CHP.

Anyone who sees Evans is asked to call 911.

The Ebony Alert, introduced in 2024, enables the CHP to alert the public in order to assist in missing person cases involving “the suspicious or unexplainable disappearance of a black woman or black person,” according to the agency. It is intended to help locate Black missing persons who are considered endangered due to their age or other circumstances.
