Mother accused of setting daughter on fire gets new court date

Porche Latrice Wright returned Thursday to Sacramento Superior Court nearly a month after police say she doused her 7-year-old daughter with gasoline then set her on fire.

Wright, 27, of Sacramento, faces allegations of aggravated mayhem and attempted murder in the April 4 incident at her El Camino Avenue duplex.

She made a brief appearance Thursday morning before Sacramento Superior Court Judge Ben Davidian but did not speak.

Wright, who has a history of domestic violence offenses and had just completed a treatment program for batterers, according to court records, will return May 28 to Sacramento Superior Court.

She remains held without bail at the Sacramento County jail.
