Man convicted in 2018 South Land Park barbershop killing

A man was convicted of first-degree murder Friday in a 2018 killing of a South Land Park barbershop patron.

Dwayne Sullivan, 21, faces up to life in prison after Terryon Bean was shot and killed on Jan. 13, 2018, in Upgrade Cuts & Styles on Florin Road, according to a news release issued by the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office.

Bean had gone to the barbershop for his weekly haircut when the gunman came in and shot him several times at close range before running out and jumping into a nearby car, according to the release.

Bean was taken to a hospital where, nearly three weeks after the shooting, he died, according to the release.

Sullivan was booked into the Sacramento County jail on Jan. 15, 2018, after his probation officer recognized him in surveillance photos obtained by police, according to the release.

In addition to the murder charges, Sullivan was convicted of felony firearm possession. He had previously been convicted of negligently discharging a firearm, according to the release.

He is scheduled to be sentenced May 31.
