1 in custody, others at large after possible home invasion in south Sacramento area

One man has been arrested and multiple suspects remain outstanding following a home invasion Thursday night in the Parkway Estates section of south Sacramento, where gunshots were also heard by deputies, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were responding to a possible burglary in progress in the 7200 block of Huntsville Drive around 9:30 p.m. when they heard “several” shots fired, sheriff’s spokeswoman Sgt. Tess Deterding said.

The deputies determined that a home invasion was in progress and that the gunshots were related to the crime, but no gunshot victims were located, Deterding said.

One man was taken into custody and there are additional outstanding suspects, Deterding said, but the exact number of suspects remaining at large is not known. It was also not clear how many victims were inside the residence at the time.

Responding sheriff’s deputies were not fired at and did not fire their weapons, according to Deterding.

No further information has been released, and the investigation remains ongoing.
