Cops: ‘Empire’ actress Amanda Detmer arrested for DUI crash in hometown of Chico, California

A driver arrested on DUI-related charges after a Sunday evening crash in Chico was identified by police as Amanda Detmer, an actress with a 20-year career in Hollywood movies and TV who was raised in the Butte County city.

Police responded at about 5:15 p.m. to reports that a vehicle had collided with a utility pole near East Eighth and Flume streets, then fled the scene, the Chico Police Department said in a news release.

Officers located and stopped a vehicle with heavy front-end damage nearby and arrested the driver, according to the news release.

The police department identified Detmer, a 48-year-old Chico resident, as the driver. Detmer faces charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and leaving the scene of a traffic collision, Chico police say.

Detmer has appeared as a supporting actress in dozens of TV series and Hollywood movies since 1995, including “Drop Dead Gorgeous” (1999) and “Final Destination” (2000), according to the Internet Movie Database.

Most recently, Detmer appeared in 12 episodes of the final two seasons of musical drama “Empire” on Fox.
