The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office has identified the suspect arrested in connection with a fatal stabbing early Wednesday in the Arden Arcade area.

Garrick Correa, 45, was arrested Wednesday, following the death of a 22-year-old man in the 3400 block of Whitney Avenue, near Watt Avenue, the Sheriff’s Office said Thursday in a news release. Sheriff’s officials said Wednesday that they had detained a man at the scene following the incident and that no suspects were believed to be outstanding.

Detectives believe the stabbing followed a verbal fight between the suspect and victim around 1:15 a.m., but the exact relationship between the two remains under investigation, according to the news release.

Correa is being held in the Sacramento County jail on a charge of murder, inmate records show. He is scheduled for a court appearance Friday.

The victim has not yet been identified by the Sacramento County sheriff’s or coroner’s office.
