Man arrested in fatal stabbing near Carmichael Jack in the Box, Sacramento sheriff says
Detectives have arrested a man in connection with a fatal stabbing Wednesday morning in Carmichael.
Jonathon Davis, 43, was arrested and booked following what was first reported by authorities as a suspicious death investigation, with a man’s body being found on the sidewalk in the 5700 block of Marconi Avenue around 7:15 a.m. Wednesday, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said Friday in a news release.
Sheriff’s spokeswoman Sgt. Tess Deterding said Wednesday that the victim, described in Friday’s news release as a 36-year-old man, was pronounced dead of upper-body trauma, and that detectives had located physical evidence in the parking lot of a nearby Jack in the Box restaurant.
According to Friday’s news release, detectives believe the suspect fatally stabbed the victim after a verbal argument escalated. Witnesses indicated to detectives that both the victim and suspect were known to frequent the area and might have been acquaintances of each other.
Davis was booked into jail Thursday night, inmate logs show. He faces a murder charge and had probation-related warrants. Davis is ineligible for bail.
Davis’ jail booking photo shows numerous cuts to his face and head.
The victim’s identity has not yet been released by the coroner.
