Suspicious death investigated after woman found with trauma in south Sacramento County

Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a suspicious death after an unresponsive woman was located Monday morning near Stockton Boulevard in the Parkway Estates area of south Sacramento County, authorities said.

The sheriff’s dispatch center received reports at about 6:30 a.m. of an injured or unresponsive woman in the 7400 block of Stockton Boulevard, Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Sgt. Tess Deterding said.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

“This is being considered a suspicious death as the female has apparent trauma but the cause of death is unknown at this time,” Deterding said.

The Sheriff’s Office in a news release later Monday morning described the injuries observed by deputies as “minor visible trauma to her extremities.”

Deterding said the victim is believed to be a transient.

Stockton Boulevard was open to traffic in the area as of 9:15 a.m., according to Deterding.

No other details were released.
