Sacramento man arrested on suspicion of DUI after trying to drive on 3 tires, police say

A Sacramento man was arrested for driving under the influence early Sunday morning after officers noticed he was missing his front right tire, Lakeport Police say.

According to a news release, around 1 a.m. officers saw a 2018 Red Ford Ecosport headed east on 11th Street. The vehicle noticeable damage to the front end and without the front passenger-side tire. Police say they initiated a traffic stop on Pool Street, where they talked to the driver, Martin Diazbarajas Jr. of Sacramento.

Diazbarajas claimed to have crashed his vehicle before taking the 11th Street exit from Highway 29, according to the release. He said he was aware of the missing tire, but believed he would be able to make it home.

Officers suspected Diazbarajas of being under the influence and administered a field sobriety test, followed by a breathalyzer screening. Diazbarajas complied and the results showed him to have a .082 percent blood alcohol content, just above the legal limit, police said. Diazbarajas was arrested on suspicion of DUI and take to Lake County Jail in Lakeport.
