One hurt after Sunday night shooting outside of bar near Sacramento State, police say

One person is expected to survive after being shot Sunday night at Stingers Sports Pub, near the Sacramento State campus, police said.

The Sacramento Police Department in its daily activity log said officers responded to a shooting in the 7800 block of La Riviera Drive around 10:45 p.m., which “appears to have occurred in the parking lot,” with one victim suffering a gunshot wound.

The victim is expected to survive, according to the police log. Crime scene investigators processed the scene, the Police Department said, but no arrests have been announced as of Monday morning. No suspect information was released.

The State Hornet, Sacramento State’s student newspaper, reported on Twitter that the shooting occurred outside of Stingers, a bar popular among students at the college, which is less than a mile away.

In September 2018, a man was arrested after firing multiple times through the front windows of Stingers following an altercation around the bar’s closing time, according to reports at the time by the State Hornet.
