Bicyclist killed, sedan sought after Meadowview hit-and-run, Sacramento police say

A bicyclist was killed Sunday night in a hit-and-run crash in the Meadowview area, according to the Sacramento Police Department.

The driver of the suspect vehicle is being sought after a woman cycling near 24th Street and Florin Road was struck shortly before 10:30 p.m., the Police Department said in a news release. Arriving officers discovered the victim down in the roadway with life-threatening injuries, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The involved vehicle, believed by investigators to be a small white or silver sedan, fled the scene of the collision, authorities said.

The victim’s identity will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office pending notification of family.
