Update: CHP finds missing Roseville boy several hours after he was taken by his uncle
The CHP has found a missing 10-year-old boy several hours after he was taken from his Roseville home by his uncle after a fight early Thursday, authorities said.
About 7 p.m. Thursday, the Roseville Police Department announced that the boy was found safe, and the suspect was taken into custody.
The announcement came about two hours after the CHP issued an alert in Sacramento and Placer counties, asking authorities and the public to be on the lookout for a black 2014 Honda CRV with California license plate 8LBT608.
Roseville police officials said the vehicle was spotted heading west on Interstate 80 in Yolo County, and another driver called to report it. The California Highway Patrol caught up to the suspect vehicle and pulled it over.
CHP officers conducted the traffic stop in Dixon and took the suspect into custody, while the child was inside the suspect vehicle, according to the CHP.
Izaivion Powell-Zeno was taken against his will by his uncle, 27-year-old Michael Zeno, after the man assaulted the boy’s parent, Roseville police said. Authorities at the time did not know where the suspect might be heading.
The CHP issued an endangered missing advisory through social media about 4:50 p.m. Thursday.
The CHP alert indicated the uncle was in a fight with the boy’s father, shortly before the boy was taken about 1 a.m. from his family’s apartment.
Roseville police officials said in a news release that there was some reason to believe the suspect “may suffer from mental health issues.”
The CHP sent out a description of the suspect, Michael Zeno, who stands about 6 feet and 1 inch tall and weighs about 265 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.
Roseville police said the incident was resolved quickly with help from the CHP, the FBI and the Placer County District Attorney’s Office.
