Driver in UC Davis road rage incident accused of brandishing gun on campus, police say

Campus police say a suspect is sought, accused of brandishing a handgun during an apparent road rage incident Thursday in a UC Davis parking lot.

The victim driver reported honking their horn at the car in front of them while stopped at a green light at La Rue Road and Orchard Park Drive, to enter Parking Lot 25 at around 9 a.m., according to a crime alert from the UC Davis Police Department.

The driver of the suspect vehicle, described as a tan or gray Honda CRV, flipped off the victim, reportedly got behind the victim’s vehicle and followed it into the parking lot, police said.

“As the vehicle passed, the victim saw the suspect driver pull out what appeared to be a black pistol and displayed it on the edge of the door,” the crime alert said. “The suspect driver did not point the gun at the victim.”

According to the victim, the suspect SUV then fled in an unknown direction.

The suspect and a passenger in the suspect vehicle were each described as Asian men in their mid-20s wearing “college-type” clothing, the campus crime alert said. The driver is sought on suspicion of brandishing a firearm.

Lot 25 is a parking lot for on-campus apartments, according to a campus map.

Anyone with information about the incident or suspects is asked to call the UC Davis Police Department at 530-754-2677.
