Woman arrested on murder charge in son’s death, Sacramento police say
Homicide detectives have arrested a woman on suspicion of murder in the death of her son, but Sacramento police officials on Monday released few details about the circumstances that led to the boy’s death.
Cassandra Archuleta, 32, was booked at the Sacramento County Main Jail on Sunday afternoon, according to sheriff’s custody records. She is being held without bail and is scheduled to make her first court appearance Tuesday.
About 1:50 a.m. Saturday, patrol officers were called to a local hospital after staff reported that a boy had been pronounced dead and the circumstances surrounding his death “appeared suspicious,” according to the Sacramento Police Department.
Police officials did not release the age of the boy, nor did they say how the boy died or what appeared suspicious about the boy’s death. The boy’s name was not released pending proper family notification by county coroner officials.
The homicide detectives were later called to take over the investigation and “they determined that Archuleta was responsible for the death of her son and arrested her on homicide charges,” according to the news release.
The detectives do not believe there are any other suspects connected to the boy’s death.
