Burglar walked right into Auburn home but fled when resident screamed, Placer sheriff says

Placer County sheriff’s investigators were looking for an unidentified burglary suspect who broke into an Auburn home Monday, frightening a resident inside and leaving behind blood at the crime scene.

The burglary occurred at the home in the 12000 block of Luther Road, near Highway 49 in Auburn, the Sheriff’s Office announced on its Facebook page Tuesday.

One of the homeowners was lying on her couch when the suspect walked into her home through the front door. The suspicious man alarmed her, so she screamed, sheriff’s officials said.

The woman’s screams prompted the suspect to run away, but sheriff’s deputies found blood on two of the victim’s vehicles. Her boyfriend’s wallet, which was in one of those vehicles, is now missing.

The deputies searched the surrounding area using sheriff’s K9s and an aerial drone, but they did not find the suspect.

Sheriff’s officials described the burglar as a white man in his early 20s, who was wearing a hooded-sweatshirt and a baseball cap.

Officials asked anyone with information about this suspect to call the sheriff’s Investigations Division at 530-889-7830.
