Two men shot to death on Meadowview Road in south Sacramento, police say

Police are investigating a double homicide after two men were shot and killed in south Sacramento on Saturday night, authorities said.

The shooting was reported about 9:15 p.m. in the 1400 block of Meadowview Road, just east of Freeport Boulevard and Interstate 5, the Sacramento Police Department said. Officers arrived to find two victims suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds, police said.

Officers rendered aid to both victims until Sacramento Fire Department personnel arrived, authorities said. One of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene. The other was rushed to a hospital, where he died from his injuries, police said.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identities of the victims after family has been notified.

Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators have taken over the investigation, authorities said. Detectives were planning to conduct a thorough neighborhood canvass to locate witnesses and evidence.
