Sacramento police arrest man suspected in Meadowview double homicide

Homicide detectives have made an arrest in the shooting deaths of two men in Meadowview this past weekend, the Sacramento Police Department said.

Detectives on Sunday arrested Shawn Douglas Shaver on suspicion of murder, according to jail records. He is ineligible for bail.

Shaver, 29, was identified as a suspect after officers responded to the 1400 block of Meadowview Road at 9:15 p.m. Saturday for reports of a shooting. Police found two men at the scene suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds.

Officers provided medical aid until fire personnel arrived. One man was pronounced dead at the scene and the second man was transported to a local hospital, where he died, police said.

“The circumstances that led up to this shooting are still under investigation,” according to a news release.

The identity of the victims has not yet been released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.
