Authorities on Thursday arrested a second Sacramento County man accused in the shooting death of Marysville woman who was killed in her home last year during an apparent burglary.

Cody Dion Morris of Rancho Cordova had been recently identified as a suspect in the murder case, according to a news release from the Marysville Police Department. Morris, 27, was found and taken into custody Thursday morning in the 3200 block of East Woodson Road in Acampo, a small San Joaquin County town just north of Lodi.

Investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Morris for his alleged role in the shooting death of the 37-year-old woman. Police on Thursday did not release the woman’s name, but her family told CBS 13 that her name is Karina Paez Smith.

Morris was arrested on suspicion of residential burglary, vehicle theft and being an accessory in a murder in connection with the woman’s death. He was booked at Yuba County Jail.

Marysville police officials say the woman was shot in the head at close range during the burglary on Sept. 22 at the home in the 1000 block of F Street. She was found at at the home about 3:48 a.m., and she later died of her injuries, police said.

Her relatives who also lived in the home gave police information that indicated two suspects were responsible for her death, and they left in the woman’s vehicle.

Jesse Jaramillo, 30, of Sacramento was quickly identified as one of the suspects in the killing, according to Thursday’s news release. Police said Jaramillo was known to the woman’s family.

Investigators received information indicating Jaramillo was staying somewhere in the Oroville area of Butte County. Authorities found Jaramillo four days after the deadly shooting at the Feather Falls Casino in Oroville.

Security officers spotted Jaramillo on a security camera in front of the casino. They sent an image from the camera to Marysville police officials, who confirmed a match. Jaramillo was taken into custody by Butte County sheriff’s deputies.
