Yolo County woman awakes to find masked man with a knife by her bed, deputies say
Yolo County sheriff’s deputies on Monday were looking for an unidentified man after a late-night incident near Woodland in which a woman woke up to find the masked suspect standing over her bed as he held a knife.
The incident occurred about 1:10 a.m. Monday at the home near Wildwing Drive and Highway 16, a few miles west of Woodland, according to a news release from the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s investigators believe the suspect entered the woman’s home through an unlocked door. Officials said she awoke and found the man wearing a mask. The woman told deputies that the suspect was holding the knife as he stood over her bed.
The suspect then told the woman he was in the wrong house and had intended to play a prank on someone before he left the woman’s house, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to the reported incident and were unable to find the suspect. The woman told deputies that the masked suspect was a tall and thin young man.
