Father tells Davis police suspect in van tried to lure his 3-year-old son to the vehicle
Investigators on Wednesday were looking for someone in a van suspected of a trying to lure a 3-year-old boy to the vehicle earlier this week in Davis, before the child’s father intervened, police said.
The incident reportedly occurred about 11 a.m. Monday along Spafford Street, the Davis Police Department announced Wednesday on Facebook.
Officers were called Monday for a report of an unidentified person in a white van who allegedly tried to lure a child into the vehicle. The officers interviewed the boy’s father, who police said witnessed the incident.
The father told the officers he was walking with his son on the sidewalk along Spafford, and the toddler was walking about 20 feet behind when the white van pulled up near his son.
The van’s side “cargo door” was open, and a person inside tried to wave the boy over to the vehicle, police said. The father told police he ran toward his son and the van drove away.
Police described the van as a white Ford van with no windows on its sides. Police did not have any specific details about the man seen inside because the father’s view was obstructed.
Investigators ask anyone with information about this incident to call Davis police at 916-747-5400.
