Arrest made in connection with shooting death of Sacramento rapper Bris, police say
The Sacramento Police Department arrested a person who officers believe is connected to the killing of a local rapper.
Christopher Treadwell, also known by his stage name Bris, was shot to death on June 21 near south Sacramento.
Now, police are confirming that an arrest has been made in connection to the 24-year-old’s killing, but department spokesman Officer Karl Chan said details are scant.
Detectives are still reviewing evidence and confirming information, so Chan could not release the name of the suspect, but he said the arrest was made Sept. 14 in the North Sacramento area.
Treadwell was found in the early morning hours near the intersection of Fruitridge Road and Franklin Boulevard after officers responded to reports of gunshots in the area.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, which was near a single-vehicle crash that officers determined was related to the rapper’s death.
Treadwell had released dozens of music videos on his YouTube page, the most popular of which — titled “Panhandling” — has racked up over 3.5 million views. Since his death, that same music video attracted around 1.5 million additional views.
