Man grabbed woman and her child but she fought him off. Elk Grove police look for suspect

Investigators on Thursday were looking for a man who apparently tried to abduct a woman and her child in Elk Grove Wednesday night before she fought off the suspect, police said.

The incident was reported about 9 p.m., when officers were called to the area near Center Parkway and Bruceville Road, less than a mile west of Highway 99.

Officers arrived and learned that the woman was walking in the area when she was accosted by the unknown man. The suspect ran toward the woman and her child before reaching around and grabbing them both, according to the Elk Grove Police Department.

Police officials said the woman fought off the suspect and yelled for help. The man then ran from the area. Police said a vehicle, possibly a Buick or an older model green or teal sedan, might have been involved in the incident.

Police described the suspect as a man about 30 years old with a medium build, black “poofy” hair, bushy eyebrows and wearing black-framed glasses.

Investigators asked anyone with information about this incident to call the Elk Grove Police Department Investigations Division at 916-478-8043.
