hit and run fatality

California Highway Patrol officers were investigating a fatal hit-and-run and looking for a small truck that hit an Olivehurst woman as she was walking in a residential neighborhood late Sunday in Yuba County.

The 54-year-old woman died after she was struck by the vehicle about 10:10 p.m. on Powerline Road near Seventh Avenue, just west of Highway 70 in Olivehurst, according to a news release from the CHP Yuba-Sutter Area Office. Her name will be released once authorities have properly notified her family.

The CHP said the vehicle that hit the woman was described as a lifted small gray truck, which was heading south on Powerline. After hitting the woman, the truck continued south on Powerline and drove away.

Officers asked anyone with information about the truck or its driver to call CHP Yuba-Sutter at 530-674-5141.
