Elk Grove man dies in motorcycle crash in midtown, Sacramento police say

An Elk Grove man was killed in a motorcycle crash in midtown Sacramento Saturday evening.

Officer Ryan Woo, a spokesman for the Sacramento Police Department, said that officers were called out to the area of 25th Street and Capitol Avenue around 6:30 p.m. on reports of a single-vehicle traffic accident.

Responding officers found a motorcyclist who had suffered serious injuries. He was taken to a hospital for treatment, where he later died.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office identified the man as Kristopher Brandon Simmons, 37, of Elk Grove. Police believe that he lost control of his motorcycle.

Traffic detectives are investigating the incident but are not yet sure of the circumstances that led up to the crash. The roadway was temporarily closed in the area, but has since reopened.
