A pair of brothers from Lincoln have been arrested on suspicion of homicide in connection with the death of 60-year-old Robert Mendoza, whose body was found at the bottom of an embankment near the Nevada-Yuba county line last month.

Eric Olsen, 61, and Carl Olsen, 59, were arrested this week and booked into the Yuba County Jail, the Yuba County Sheriff’s Office said in a Thursday news release.

Mendoza was found dead Nov. 26 in the Spenceville Wildlife Area near Penn Valley, authorities said.

Yuba and Placer county sheriff’s officials served a search warrant at Mendoza’s residence on Hungry Hollow Road in Lincoln.

“Detectives determined two additional men associated with the property, brothers Carl and Eric Olsen, were involved in the homicide of Robert Mendoza,” Yuba sheriff’s officials wrote.

Carl Olsen was arrested during a Tuesday traffic stop in Lincoln, according to the news release, and Eric Olsen was arrested the same day when detectives served a second search warrant at the Hungry Hollow Road property

The investigation remains active and ongoing, sheriff’s officials said.

Authorities originally deemed the death suspicious due to visible injuries to Mendoza’s body, then announced earlier this month that Mendoza was a victim of homicide. Deputies have not specified the exact cause of death.

Yuba County jail logs show the Olsen brothers are both ineligible for bail.
