Roseville police arrest man suspected of DUI in crash that killed another driver

Officers on Thursday arrested a man suspected of driving under the influence of drugs in a December crash in Roseville that killed another driver.

Scott Andrew Hopkins was arrested on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter, according to Placer County Jail records. He remained in custody Friday at the jail, where his bail was set at $250,000 bail.

Hopkins was involved in a two-vehicle crash Dec. 22 on Old Auburn Road near South Cirby Way. Authorities performed lifesaving efforts, but the driver in the other vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Roseville Police Department.

Hopkins was injured in the crash and taken to a hospital. There were no passengers in the vehicles.

The department’s Multi-disciplinary Accident Investigation Team responded to the scene and took over the investigation.

The investigators said that Hopkins caused the fatal crash while driving under the influence of drugs, and police said Hopkins has been previous DUI convictions.
