Early-morning shooting leaves man dead, police seeking witnesses in North Sacramento
Police are investigating after a man was shot dead Sunday morning between Sacramento’s South Hagginwood and Old North Sacramento neighborhoods, authorities said.
Officers responded to a reported shooting in the 2700 block of Branch Street, and the incident is now a homicide investigation, the Sacramento Police Department said in a news release after 9 a.m.
Arriving patrol officers located a man shortly after 4 a.m. with at least one gunshot wound. Responding medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.
No suspect information was available, police said, and detectives and crime scene investigators are processing the scene and canvassing the area for evidence and witnesses.
The man’s identity will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office pending notification of family.
