Homicide detectives arrest suspect in Branch Street shooting that killed Sacramento man
Homicide detectives arrested a suspect in connection with the shooting death of a 29-year-old Sacramento man killed early Sunday in the South Hagginwood neighborhood, police announced Tuesday afternoon.
Shortly after the shooting that killed Anthony Franklin Holliday III, the detectives identified Deon Conley, 28, as the suspect in the homicide, according to the Sacramento Police Department.
About 5 p.m. Monday, detectives found Conley at a Sacramento County home and “safely detained” the suspect as they served a search warrant at the home, police said. The Police Department did not release any further details about the homicide investigation.
Conley was later arrested on suspicion of homicide and booked at the Sacramento County Main Jail.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office on Monday afternoon released Holliday’s name, identifying him as the man killed in Sunday’s shooting in the 2700 block of Branch Street.
The shooting was reported shortly after 4 a.m. in the neighborhood just east of Rio Linda Boulevard and south of Las Palmas Avenue. Officers arrived and found Holliday who had at least one gunshot wound, police said. Medics arrived and pronounced Holliday dead at the scene.
