Sacramento County sheriff’s detectives arrested a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of homicide in the death of an 18-year-old man found with multiple gunshot wounds Tuesday in a Rancho Cordova neighborhood just south of Highway 50.

Homicide detectives arrested Damien Martice Hartley of Sacramento County as the suspect in the shooting death of Alexander Jack Taylor, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday in a news release.

Hartley was being held at the Sacramento County Youth Detention Center. Sheriff’s officials said there were no other suspects wanted in the shooting and did not release any further details about the investigation, including the suspected motive.

Shortly before 10 a.m. on Tuesday, a resident in the 3000 block of Laurelhurst Drive, near South White Rock Road, called to report a man had been shot. The caller told dispatchers that the man had multiple gunshot wounds and appeared dead.

Rancho Cordova police officers went to the scene and found the man, later identified as Taylor. Sheriff’s officials, which contract police services in the city, said the officers started performing life-saving measures until medics arrived. Taylor was taken to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
