Already with two strikes, Sacramento County man earns new, lengthy robbery sentence
A man was sentenced to 37 years to life in prison by a Sacramento County Superior Court judge for a 2020 robbery in which a gun was involved, according to authorities.
Marquess Wilson was convicted in December 2021 of two counts of first-degree robbery with use of a firearm, first-degree residential burglary and being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office.
Close to a year prior to his conviction, Wilson confronted a woman in her driveway, pointed a gun at her and demanded she let him inside, according to a news release this week.
Prosecutors said Wilson stole items totaling more than $30,000 from the woman’s home. He went into the room of the woman’s 9-year-old son while he was playing video games and stole the boy’s game console and phone.
Law enforcement recovered some of the stolen property from the trunk of Wilson’s wife’s car, but the firearm was never recovered, according to the news release.
Wilson has two prior strike convictions for assault with a firearm in 2011 and for battery with serious bodily injury in 2014, according to prosecutors.
