Placer sheriff deputies arrest home burglary suspect in Mosquito Fire evacuated area
Deputies on Friday arrested an El Dorado County man suspected of burglarizing a Placer County home in an area evacuated in response to the Mosquito Fire.
About 12:45 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a burglary in progress at a home in the 6000 block of Parkwood Court in Todd Valley.
The deputies found Logan Gross, 20, of Cool, burglarizing the home, the Placer County Sheriff’s Office announced in social media posts.
Sheriff’s officials said the deputies found items stolen from the home inside Gross’ truck. He was arrested on suspicion of burglary and unauthorized entry into an emergency area.
Mandatory evacuations were ordered for Todd Valley, just west of Foresthill.
Earlier this week, deputies arrested a man found with a gun and methamphetamine driving around at night in an evacuated area of El Dorado County threatened by the Mosquito Fire. That arrest occurred in Volcanoville, which also was under a mandatory evacuation order before the wildfire burned some buildings in the small town.
Deputies and other law enforcement officials have been patrolling evacuated zones to protect properties “from potential looters,” the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday morning.
