A brother and sister were arrested last week on suspicion of planning to kill two victims at a North Highlands residence in 2021 where one man was shot to death and another woman was injured.

Sunnerica Sinohui, 34, and her brother, David Sinohui, 31, went June 21, 2021, to an apartment complex on 4400 block of Oakhollow Drive to carry out the attack, according to a Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office news release issued Monday. The Sheriff’s Office said they were accompanied by the sister’s boyfriend, Dominique Brown.

During the shooting, a man, later identified as Wayne Blanchard, 49, died from his wounds and another woman was shot in the head, the release said. A witness said two men drove away in a light-colored sedan.

Sgt. Amar Gandhi, a spokesman with the Sheriff’s Office, said a disagreement in the family led to the shooting. He added the couple was related to Blanchard.

The injured woman, who called authorities to report the shooting, survived her injuries. She has not been identified.

Detectives, through their “long and arduous” investigation, arrested Sunnerica Sinohui on Friday in Sacramento and David Sinohui in Riverside County. Brown died in an unrelated incident in Washington state, the Sheriff’s Office said.

David Sinohui was arrested in Victorville and faces charges of murder and conspiracy, according to Riverside County Sheriff’s Office jail logs. He awaits extradition to Sacramento County and is being held without bail.

Sunnerica Sinohui was arrested on suspicion of murder and conspiracy. She’s being held without bail in Sacramento County Main Jail and is scheduled to appear for her first court appearance Tuesday.
