Man arrested, accused of DUI after rollover crash kills 24-year-old woman in Placer County

Roadway fatality

A 26-year-old Marysville man was arrested on suspicion of felony vehicular manslaughter after his passenger was ejected and died early Tuesday in a rollover crash near Lincoln, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Officers from the CHP’s Auburn office were called about 1:20 a.m. to a crash northbound on Highway 65, north of Nelson Lane and west of Lincoln city limits, the CHP said in a news release.

The driver was headed north on Highway 65 when the vehicle traveled off the right shoulder and overturned, according to the news release.

A 24-year-old woman wasn’t properly restrained by her seat belt and died after being ejected, the release said.

The driver suffered major injuries and was taken to a hospital. CHP officers suspect drunken driving led to the crash, the release said.

It was unclear whether the man had been booked into jail as of Tuesday evening.
