Teens, 17 and 18, identified as victims in deadly Sacramento apartment shooting after party

Homicide investigation

The two teens who were shot dead late Sunday after a party at a South Natomas apartment complex have been identified.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office identified the victims as 17-year-old Jason Sandoval of Lincoln and 18-year-old Roman Miller as police on Wednesday continue to seek suspects in the shooting that also seriously wounded a 17-year-old girl. The girl had multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to a hospital in what authorities said was stable condition.

The two teens killed were shot outside an apartment in the 2000 block of West El Camino Avenue and Azevedo Drive. Sacramento Police in an earlier update said no arrests have been made.

Police in the hours after the late Sunday shooting said a large party had preceded the shooting.

“We’ll be figuring out what that involvement was with the party and the shooting and talking to any witnesses,” police spokesman Officer Anthony Gamble, said Monday, imploring any witnesses to come forward with information.

Anyone with information is asked to call Sacramento Police Department dispatchers at 916-808-5471 or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at 916-443-4357 (HELP). Callers can remain anonymous.
