A man was detained Tuesday by U.S. Marshals in San Bernardino County almost four years after a connected attempted murder and arson in Galt, the Galt Police Department said in a Facebook post on Friday.

The suspect, Mario Felix, 48, formerly of Galt, fled the area after the incidents in October 2021, the release said.

His vehicle was found in Ripon but he was not immediately located, leading to a “multi-agency search,” Galt police said.

Officers at the time said Felix opened fire on multiple family members on two separate occasions on Oct. 3, 2021 — once at a residence on A St. and once in an unincorporated part of southern Sacramento County.

Galt police said he purposefully set fire to his own house on Benteen Way between the shootings.

No injuries were reported from the shootings, the release said.

Felix will be extradited to Sacramento County to face charges of attempted homicide, Galt Police said. Additional charges are pending.
