Sacramento police make arrest after man killed in North City Farms assault
A man was killed and a suspect was arrested in connection with a deadly assault late Monday in a south Sacramento neighborhood.
Officers found the man just before 11 p.m. Monday in the area of 26th Avenue and Franklin Boulevard in the North City Farms section of the city, Sacramento Police Department officials said. The man suffered what department officials said were “blunt-force trauma injuries.”
Sacramento Fire Department personnel were called but could not revive the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office was expected to release the man’s name once family had been notified.
On Tuesday afternoon, police announced the arrest of a suspect after Enrique Manuel Gomez-Fonseca, 34, of Sacramento was taken into custody. In an update, police said Gomez-Fonseca was taken into custody at the scene and was later booked into Sacramento County Main Jail on homicide-related charges.
Gomez-Fonseca, who is being held without bail, is expected to be arraigned in Sacramento Superior Court on Thursday, according to jail logs.
