Sacramento police have arrested a suspect in connection with a South Natomas shooting Thursday that left one person dead following a brief pursuit.

Myron Gooch, 31, of Sacramento, was arrested and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail, the Sacramento Police Department said in a news release Friday morning. He is being held without bail, jail records show.

Officers responded to the shooting on the 2000 block of West El Camino Avenue around 3:30 a.m. Thursday, according to the department, and found a man with a gunshot wound. The man was pronounced dead after being transported to a hospital.

Police said they later located Gooch in a vehicle. He initially refused to stop for officers, prompting a pursuit. Gooch eventually pulled over and was detained, police said.

Gooch is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Sacramento Superior Court.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office is expected to release the victim’s name once his relatives are notified.
