Folsom police arrested a Citrus Heights man Wednesday on manslaughter charges in the death of man at a Folsom bar in late June.

Detectives arrested Dylan Pierce, 43, in connection with the June 28 death at City Slickers, in the 700 block of Gold Lake Drive, Folsom Police Department officials said in a Wednesday statement.

The suspect was arrested at his home Wednesday morning and booked into Sacramento County Main Jail, said Folsom police officials. He was released later Wednesday, according Sheriff’s Office jail records.

Investigators determined through security footage and witnesses’ accounts that the fatal altercation took place during an event at the Folsom bar. The fight spilled outside onto the bar’s patio where Folsom police and medical personnel found the unidentified man unresponsive. Their efforts to revive him were not successful and the man was pronounced dead, said Folsom police.

Folsom authorities then obtained an involuntary manslaughter warrant for the suspect, who faces arraignment Friday in Sacramento Superior Court.

Folsom police initially responded to a medical call at the bar around 3:40 p.m. June 28. The victim, later identified as 63-year-old James Douglas Caddy of Fair Oaks, died at the scene after what was described as an altercation.

Dispatch audio reviewed by The Sacramento Bee indicated the confrontation involved a bar employee. Responding officers reported that staff were not cooperative during the initial response. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office later classified Caddy’s death as a homicide.

City Slickers was hosting a fundraiser that afternoon for an employee injured in a motorcycle crash, according to a social media post by the bar. An employee reached by phone days after the incident declined to comment and referred all questions to management.

The incident marked the city’s first homicide of the year.
