A woman was killed Friday in a suspected homicide near Sierra Brooks in Sierra County, deputies said.

Jesse James Dallmann, 36, of Sun Valley, Nevada, was arrested in connection with the suspected homicide, the Sierra County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release posted to social media late Friday. Online jail records show he was arrested at a nearby hospital around 8 a.m. Friday and booked that night into the Nevada County Jail.

Dallmann was described as “incoherent” by deputies at the scene, the news release said.

The Sierra County Sheriff’s Office said it was alerted to the suspected homicide at a campsite south of Sierra Brooks, a census-designated place roughly 50 miles north of Lake Tahoe, early Friday.

Deputies said they believe the incident was isolated and is not an active threat to the public.
