Detectives on Thursday arrested two teens on suspicion of homicide in a shooting that killed a 16-year-old Sacramento boy seven months ago in the city’s South Oak Park neighborhood.

Homicide detectives identified two 17-year-old boys as suspects in the shooting death of Erik Gandara Orozco. The detectives obtained arrest warrants for the teens and took the suspects into custody with help from specialized units and an outside law enforcement agency, according to the Sacramento Police Department.

The Police Department did not release the names of the two teens arrested because they are minors.

The fatal shooting occurred shortly after 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 24 on the 3600 block of 26th Avenue in the residential neighborhood just east of Highway 99 in Sacramento.

Police said officers responded to reports of the shooting, found Gandara Orozco wounded and provided him emergency medical aid until medics arrived. The medics pronounced the 16-year-old boy dead at the scene.

The Police Department on Thursday did not provide any additional details about the homicide investigation or the arrest of the suspects.
