A woman accused of driving intoxicated was arrested by the California Highway Patrol, who said she fatally struck a pedestrian Friday on the north side of Lake Tahoe.

A Tahoe City resident, driving east on Highway 28 and west of Rocky Ridge Road in Tahoe City, was involved in the collision just before 11:30 a.m. Friday, according to the CHP’s Truckee office.

She is accused of striking a man in his 60s, who was walking on the right hand shoulder, the CHP said in a news release. The man, a Kings Beach resident, was pronounced dead by the Truckee Fire Department.

The woman was arrested, and CHP said drugs or alcohol factored into the collision.

The incident is under investigation.
