A man wanted on an outstanding warrant who was believed to be armed with a knife surrendered to Sacramento police following a standoff Tuesday night in South Natomas.

Officers searching for the man in the 2800 block of Unity Point Avenue in the Willowcreek neighborhood shortly before 8:30 p.m. when they established a perimeter and warned residents to stay away from the area.

Police later located the man and called in a tactical team and crisis negotiators, who worked to persuade him to surrender, the Sacramento Police Department said.

SWAT officers took the man into custody just before 10 p.m. It was not clear Wednesday what charges the man was expected to face.

No injuries were reported, police said.
