Two dead in Carmichael homicides had gunshot wounds; one victim identified

The man and woman found dead in a Carmichael home last week had gunshot wounds.

The man who was shot has been identified on the coroner’s website as Jon Colbert, 49, of Carmichael. The identity of the woman has not been released.

Sacramento Metropolitan Fire Department firefighters requested that Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies respond to a residence in the 5200 block of Kenneth Avenue at about 7:15 a.m. Friday for a report of a man who was not breathing in the home.

Deputies arrived and found the body of Colbert and the woman. Sheriff’s officials said the woman was in her late 30s.

The case is being investigated as a double homicide. The official cause of death has not been determined, according to the sheriff’s department.

Detectives are investigating a motive for the homicides. No suspects have been arrested.

Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s department at (916) 874-5115.
